Payouts and fees

Donors give from their paycheck. The bank moves the money, following instructions from Roster, and each gift reaches your church's bank account as its own deposit.

Where to see the money

  • Overview shows what reached your account this month, your active donors, your average gift, the pace for the year and your latest payouts. They are counted from the gifts that reached your account.
  • Gifts → Recurring gifts lists every recurring gift set up for your church, active or ended. A row says Setting up until the first gift: we only share a donor's details from their first gift on.
  • Gifts → Payouts lists each deposit the bank sent to your church's account: the date, the amount, the last digits of the account, the bank reference and who the gift is from. Total sent adds up the period you choose.

The fee

Roster keeps a percentage of each gift; the rest is what reaches your account. The Overview shows the percentage for your church.

That is why you see two amounts for the same gift:

  • Payouts show what reached your account, after the fee.
  • The gift data sent to your church software carries the full gift, before the fee, because that is the amount on the donor's receipt. See Gifts into your software.

What we never show

A donor can give a fixed amount or a percentage of each paycheck. For a percentage gift, the lists show no amount per paycheck. We never share a donor's pay or the percentage they chose.

Keep your givers' contact details private.

When a payout can't go through

  • "We couldn't verify the account ending …" or "We couldn't send gifts to the account ending …" appears under Needs you on the Overview. Update it in Setup opens the bank account step, where you connect another account.
  • Switching banks? Payouts pause until the new account is confirmed as your church's.
